Teaching Phonics to Beginners and Elementary Learners (TPBEL)

TPBEL is a comprehensive course for English Language Teachers or Parents who are keen on equipping their young wards with the correct basic sounds in the English Language and use these sounds to spell read and write correctly at a rate faster than a normal young learner. The skills from this course will enable the participants to become great motivators which will in turn make their wards into skilled readers, who will be able to read English books beyond their age. The course will use a world renown UK phonics programme as it's basis.

Who can register?

• All qualified English Language teachers - NTT / D.Ed / TTC / BTC / BEd / B.El.Ed - who want to teach in or are teaching in Primary or Elementary Schools 
• All parents who coach their wards at home and who qualify a basic test in English Language Teaching

Learning Outcomes

The course offers three days intensive training in:

• Correct pronunciation of all 42 sounds of the English Language
• All related alternative sounds
• Lesson guidelines to teach these sounds to beginners and elementary learners
• Use these sounds to learn to spell, read and write correctly
• Use motivational techniques and activities to help with teaching young learners
• Creating a kit of learning materials as per prescribed standards.

The course will equip the participant to implement the skills with their young wards from the very next day, armed with the right teaching learning material.

Methodology

The course will be conducted using modern hands-on techniques. It will be multifaceted and will also involve participant presentations and tutor feedback. It will be characterised by 60% practice time for participants. Specifically, it will use:

• Classroom simulations
• Peer Teaching Practice
• Participant presentations
• Group Coaching
• Material Development

Time and Duration

Each three-day course begins either on a Monday or a Thursday. The course will be held over a period of three days for seven hours each day - from 9 am to 4 pm. Each day will be divided into 4 sessions with appropriate number of breaks.

Refreshments

Basic refreshments like biscuits, tea and water will be provided at the venue. 

Fee

The fee is Rs.3000/- per participant, which is payable at the time of registration, a week before the beginning of the course.
