Shashwat Chandra Pandey

I teach the Indian bamboo flute (bansuri) and have been sharing this beautiful art form with students for over 10 years. My passion for the flute began early in life and has only deepened with time. Over the years, I have worked with students from different age groups and musical backgrounds, helping them develop both technical skills and a true appreciation for Indian classical music.

My academic background includes a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree, along with a Diploma in Flute. These qualifications have helped me develop a well-rounded understanding of both theory and performance. I have spent the past decade teaching in Delhi, where I’ve also remained actively involved in various music communities and institutions. This exposure has added depth to my own musical journey and given me valuable insights into how to make learning effective and enjoyable for others.

My classes cover a wide spectrum—from traditional Hindustani classical ragas to light and semi-classical pieces, depending on the student’s interests and skill level. I also help students explore fusion and contemporary styles, for those who wish to experiment while staying rooted in classical techniques. My goal is to nurture each student’s individual expression while maintaining the discipline of the classical tradition.

I tailor my lessons to the specific pace and comfort level of each learner. Beginners are guided through the basics of flute handling, fingering, and breath control, while more advanced students focus on intricate ragas, improvisation, and performance techniques. Whether you are learning for personal joy or aspiring to perform professionally, I ensure the learning path is meaningful and progressive.

Classes are conducted both online and offline, offering flexibility for students across different locations. I use live demonstrations and aural practice techniques, which are essential in Indian music learning. While I don’t currently offer certification courses, I do prepare students for stage performances and personal mastery of the flute.

Learning the bansuri is a deeply meditative and expressive experience, and I feel honored to guide students on this path. I believe that music, especially Indian classical music, has the power to transform and heal, and my teaching is rooted in that belief.
