Priyanshu C.

I am Priyanshu Chaurasia, a Varanasi-based visual artist . My work grows from an ongoing concern for how nature and human activity meet each other in the same space. I often use the image of the tree as a symbol of balance, memory, and survival. Around it, I place forms inspired by discarded objects, waste materials, and damaged surfaces that we see in daily life. These two elements ,living forms and leftover materials, allow me to explore how the environment absorbs the pressure of human behaviour. Most of my artworks are built through materials that are found, collected, or reused, because I believe the material should speak about the idea itself. Working with waste helps me show how something ignored can still carry truth, history, and responsibility. Through this process, I try to create works that feel grounded, honest, and connected to the changing landscape around us. I completed my BFA in Painting from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi in 2014. After that, I pursued two master’s degrees: an MFA in Graphics from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi in 2016, where I received a Gold Medal, and an MFA in Painting from Indira Kala Vishwavidyalaya, Khairagarh in 2019, also awarded with a Gold Medal.
