Papiya

I am Papiya, a dedicated Vocal Music teacher and performing artist with over 20 years of experience in the field of Indian classical and light music. My journey in music has been deeply rooted in both performance and teaching, and I take pride in sharing my knowledge with students of all age groups.

I have been associated with All India Radio since 1982 and have also performed on television for more than two decades. My experience as a performer has given me deep insight into stage presentation, voice modulation, and the finer nuances of Indian classical music, which I bring into my teaching.

I have also worked as a music teacher at Delhi Public School and have been conducting private vocal training classes at home for the past 15 years. Over the years, I have trained numerous students in Indian classical vocal music, light music, ghazals, bhajans, and Bollywood songs, helping them develop strong vocal skills and confidence.

My academic background includes a Master’s degree in English from Patna University, along with formal training in music under the guidance of Pt. Rajan and Sajan Mishra. This strong foundation has helped me combine theoretical understanding with practical musical excellence in my teaching approach.

I have also been actively involved in composing music for ghazals and bhajans and have performed on stage with several renowned playback singers in India and abroad. I have even contributed as a playback singer for a few films, which has further enriched my understanding of professional music production.

Over the years, I have received awards at both state and national level music competitions and have also served as a judge for various singing competitions. These experiences have helped me understand different levels of talent and guide students more effectively based on their individual potential.

My teaching approach focuses on developing strong fundamentals in voice training, riyaz (practice), and understanding of ragas and rhythm. I believe in building a strong musical foundation while also encouraging creativity and expression in students so they can grow as confident performers.

My ultimate goal is to nurture talent with dedication and discipline, and to pass on the richness of Indian music to the next generation, helping students not only learn music but truly experience and live it.
