Ask a Question
When any neutral species ( atom molecule) are in indifferent form, they do not have any charge. If they lose or gain an electron, the species becomes charged. As we all know, electrons are charged species. So the charges get deposited on atom or molecules. They are called ions.
Now, if the electron is gained, we will earn a negative charge, and this type of ion is called an anion. But, if an electron is lost, we get positive charge called a cation.
