Every language has a set of rules to write the code as like we have in English language, if you do gramatical mistakes in English, the sentence is unable to understand same as in programming language if you are not following the certain rules of any programming language than computer couldn't understand... ...more

what is the significance of lvalue?

Lvalue is stand for Left value i.e bascially a memory location where you wan't to store any values. Like int a=5; in this case 'a' is a Lvalue which denotes a memory location that holds 5 as a integer value
