In my past experience, I have met many students who have studied English, know the basic grammatical structures of a sentence but struggle when it comes to speaking in English. I helped them gain confidence in themselves, encouraging them to speak even if they think they might be wrong. Starting with building a strong foundation of grammatical rules and correct pronunciations, I slowly introduce more words in order to build a wider and more colorful vocabulary. While conducting the lessons, I don't just stick to the "bookish" themes and chapters but have conversations about topics which are more likely to be used in real-life like culture,sports, food etc. It is important to understand that the spoken English course is less about the classroom learning (rules,notes etc) and more about the ability to have and carry on a conversation.
