IMF stands for International Monetary Fund.
Functions of IMF:
i. Survey global conditions: The IMF has the rare ability to look into and review the economies of all its member countries.
ii. Provide technical assistance and short-term loans: The IMF provides loans to help its members tackle balance of payments, stabilize their economies, and restore sustainable growth.
iii. Advise member countries: It does not function on democratic lines. It is financed by the participating countries. Each country's contribution is fixed in terms of quotas according to the relative importance of its prevailing national income and international trade. The contributed quota of a country determines its borrowing rights and voting strength.
