0A few simple procedures to follow to improve your English:
1. Reading simple children's storybooks to start off with understanding word placement and sentence construction.
2. Write out short essays to judge your grip on the language.
3. Copy down paragraphs from newspaper articles to understand advanced word placement and sentence construction.
4. Make a note of words in the copied paragraphs and find their meanings and how these words are used in a sentence.Online dictionaries or generic over the counter dictionaries should help this process.
5. Use a thesaurus to find out words that have a similar meaning to the words you just found the meanings to using a dictionary.
6. Readout sentences aloud. The paragraph which you copied from newspapers can be used for this process. You can also select paragraphs from magazines, textbooks and other sources of English prose.
7. Use an online dictionary to find out how words are pronounced.
8. Watch the news from both national and international channels. Do note that you do not have to pay attention to the content of the news but to the manner in which words are pronounced and the style of speaking English. You will notice that there are two dominant methods of speaking English, the British accent and the American accent, there are other accents (for example English with an influence of Arabic, or French or Russian in various news channels).
9. Write out more complex essays based on an article that you have read in the newspaper or magazine or from any other source of prose.
10. Read, copy and find the meaning of words of articles found in the Editorial Section of newspapers as senior journalists write the articles on this page. The end result of these procedures will leave you with a better grip on the English language both written and spoken.
