Hiba Kesavan

I am a passionate Bharatanatyam dancer with over 23 years of practice and 7 years of teaching in this beautiful and intricate classical art form. My journey in dance has been driven by a deep love for storytelling through movement, as well as a desire to connect with individuals through the power of expression.
I hold a Diploma in Theater Art Therapy for Holistic Development, an MSc in Development Studies, and a Diploma in Bharatanatyam. Over the years, I have developed a unique approach by combining traditional dance techniques with therapeutic practices to support personal growth and well-being. I have 7 years of teaching experience, during which I have conducted private and group sessions in Bharatanatyam, and specialized dance movement therapy for autistic, Down syndrome, and visually challenged children. I also conduct workshops focused on storytelling through dance, choreography for school children, and “Dance for JOY” – a 10-day Bharatanatyam basics workshop for NGOs. Throughout my career, I have performed in prestigious temples across Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Madurai. I have also performed for various corporate events and government-organized programs, including state-level cultural festivals, institutional inaugurations, and significant public celebrations. Additionally, I have had the honor of conducting Selangai Pooja (traditional Bharatanatyam milestone ceremony) for five of my students, marking important steps in their dance journey. I am continually expanding my artistic horizons by learning different dance styles such as contemporary, Satriya, and Kathak, which helps me deepen my understanding of various movement techniques and improve my work in movement therapy.
