Companies used various methods before cloud computing, primarily relying on on-premises infrastructure: Hardware: Physical servers: Companies purchased and maintained their own servers, housing data and applications locally. This was expensive, required dedicated IT staff, and lacked scalability. Client-server architecture: Centralized servers provided resources to individual client devices on the local network. Software: 1)On-premises software:Companies purchased and installed software applications directly on their own servers or user machines.This required upfront costs,maintenance,and updates. 2)Dedicated hosting:Companies rented dedicated physical servers from hosting providers but still managed the software and maintenance themselves. read less
