I am currently working in Storage technology (EMC, IBM). I want to move to Cloud Computing. I would like to understand. 1) Which Cloud Technology I will need to learn now. 2) Can you please suggest a good tutor/institute where they teach about the background on how it works, not just explaining the front end software. Because, this will really help me to understand in case tomorrow I have to plan existing storage infrastructure into Cloud. 3) I recently learnt Python and have good amount of knowledge on it. So will this help?

read more If you want to understand cloud technology basics, I would recommend that you take the Rackspace CloudU certification. This does not cost any money and it will lay the foundation of cloud technology and then deliver a vendor neutral certificate. There are 10 modules, all self paced followed by a final exam. You have to score 80% in each module and the final exam to get your certificate. I did it a couple of days ago. Once you have your foundation, then you have to decide whether to go for a vendor neutral course or to go for AWS or Azure - both and top of the line. Comptia has vendor neutral cloud certs as does CSA. Before you spend money on teachers (like me) and certs, understand the fundamentals as given in CloudU. Python will always be useful to you - particularly if you want to get into serverless architecture like AWS Lambda. Good luck, Kishore. read less

Thats the reason there are many job openings for Cloud Architects rather than Cloud Engineers. That's bcoz, from Operations standpoint, Cloud or On-Prem, both are same. I suggest you learn NetApp along with VMware. Storage + VMware is a very good profile and companies are paying well for it. read less
