Demo class is the most important part of a teaching career.. First introduce urself to the kids.. and ask for their introduction too.. Ask their names,,take sum good intersting topic to teach... if possible the make teaching aids.. they will help u alot. don’t only restrict to knowledge,...! ur communication skills and ur interaction with the kids are the most important part of a demo class. Make kids busy with u.. make sure that they listen to wat u r saying.. and if u think they r not listening then repeat it as many times as they all actually listen u..! remember u have to gain their attention..! be soft spoken but not liberal. speak on a little high picth but it should not be loud..! and i must give u a golden rule of teaching...- DONT TEACH THE KIDS, UNDERSTAND THEM ! Choose any subject in which u r proficient and have good understanding related to the subject. Best of Luck! read less

From my experience, I can tell that if you are giving demo class to your students, make it serious matter cause the class session itself will give the opportunity for future further classes. Its not like just get ready and deliver the lecture. So, first choose a topic(preferably the one which you are comfortable most ). Or guess which topic the student may have difficulties but do not understand properly although they have high possibilities to come in final exam question paper. Once you have chosen such topic/ chapter, then prepare the introductory level teaching materials. Meaning by, prepare some notes (should be interesting), include some practical application of that topic in our daily life(advantage is the student will be amazed to see that some thing he had studied before but never thought in this way; in other words, trigger his ineterest towards the subject) Next, make at least one or two mirror reharsal ; This will enable you to understand the timings, the speed of teaching and how to make the lecture more innovative and accurate; Once you are ready, deliver the lecture before the student and see if you have made him impressed. Be through with the topic you are going to handle for demo. Maths is ideal subject to give demo class, progression is interesting to handle and first try to find what the student knows about the topic. and then build on it with the introduction of formula to find nth term and so on.
