Gene mutation causing change in single nucleotide are called point mutation e.g sickle cell anaemia. Mutation caused by the addition or deletion of nitrogenous bases in the DNA and are known as farm shift mutation. E.g deletion and addition.

In point mutation only the change(or)substution of single base And in the frame shift mutation addition or delition of base pairs occure it result total sequence changes and point mutation leads to frame shift mutation

Point mutation-A mutation related to a single base, whether it is substitution or insertion or deletion. Frameshift mutation- Deletion or insertion of a base or bases leading to shift of frame is called frameshift mutation. It may be inframe or out of frame. If the deletion or insertion is in multiple of 3 bases then it will be inframe deletion or insertion. And if the deletion or insertion is in multiple of 1 or 2 then it is out of frame deletion or insertion. So a frameshift mutation due to single base deletion or insertion will come under point mutation. But frameshift mutation due to deletion or insertion of more than 1 base will not come under point mutation. read less
