Marble is a metamorphic rock that forms when limestone is subjected to the heat and pressure of metamorphism. It is composed primarily of the mineral calcite (CaCO3) and usually contains other minerals, such as clay minerals, micas, quartz, pyrite, iron oxides, and graphite.

Marble is formed from limestone when the limestone is affected by heat and high pressure during a process known as metamorphism. During metamorphism the calcite limestone recrystallizes, forming the interlocking calcite crystals that make up the marble.

Marble is a metamorphic rock resultinh from regional metamorphism of sedimentary carbonate rocks like limestone or dolostone. This metamorphic process causes a complete recrystallization of original rock, the temperature and presdire conditions help in formation of the marble.

Limestone is changed into marble because Igneous and sedimentary rocks can change into metamorphic rocks under great heat and pressure For example , clay changes into slate.
