The four characteristics of this soil are as under: 1. A rich soil in nature consisting of a mixture of sand, clay and organic materials. 2. Black in nature, proves ideal for the growth of crops like cotton. 3. They are typical of Godavari and Krishna valleys; known for their water retention capacity. 4. They are made up of lava flows.
