Sir. I want to know all the ways and means to teach online. I want to know about the tools that other sucessful teachers are using. I am a mathematics teacher . My qualification is Bsc.B.Ed and have 25 years of experience in teaching High-School mathematics.

HARDWARE- 1. PC/laptop with optimal speed 2. Digital writing pad (i use wacom ctl671) - must 3. High speed net (broadband or 3G) - mines is 4 mbps :(. 4. Webcam- although some say its optional, but i think it helps show your legitimacy and give a personal touch. 5. Good headphone with good mic ( i use Sennheiser PC 3 CHAT Wired Headset). SOFTWARE- You can try and choose which suits best to you. 1. Wiziq.com ( blackboard, voice, video, youtube video sharing)- 1 month trial time: I don't personally like it, but its famous among tutors. 2. Click meeting ( blackboard, voice, video, youtube video sharing) - 1 month trial: I like this- its audio works, video works, but writing on blackboard needs little practice. I use it for my first class.( i will explain this point in the end). 3. Now one altenative is to use a combination of a "different voice/video" tool(such as skype, vsee) & a "screen sharing" tool (teamviewer) - both free services, So you can speak to the student while sharing what you write on your PC ( Word, powerpooint, paint etc.). What i use: 1. I show a short youtube video for subject introduction using clickmeeting.com( doesnt require anything to download for both tutor & student) . 2. Alongwith that i use vsee tool to talk ( uses little bandwidth and just works!) - its a 8-9 mb software & both tutor and student need to install on their PC's. Also it has an in-built screen sharing option that displays on top of any window you open. So i talk and share my ppt slides, writing on the slides themselves to explain. This is my personal experience and things vary person to person as needs may vary. But the most important thing is to check your equipments and tools beforehand & practice among your peers, family :) Hope it helps. Pankaj K. read less
