Yes both are required. For Units -- They are to differentiate entities such as Pressure, Force, Power etc. Else it would be difficult to denote them and use them in real life. For Estimation -- Before udnerstanding this, lets be clear that Physics is considered as Math in applied way. Numbers are foundation in math where we have irrational numbers (Which exist but cant be located on numerb line) so thats the reason we estimate approximate values. In Physics too in division and finding roots we have to estimate frequently. Ex -- Pressure = Force/ (Area * Are) , so Area = (F/P)^0.5 . now it has high chances of being irrational number so we will have to estimate. Similarly while dividing by 3, 7, 9, 11 etc we have to estimate read less

yes they are required because while you are taking readings for a certain experiments then you have to record some rough readings to estimate the true value and without units physics is nothing, units is the basic need of measurement in physics
