Power theft and faulty equipments are the major reasons of distribution related losses transmission losses can be reduced by using better equipments and regular maintenance of transmission lines distribution losses can be reduced by preventing power theft and by reducing subsidies.

Transmission Line helpsin the movement of electricity from a power plant or power station to the various substationswhereas the distribution line carries electricity from the substation to the consumer's end. i.e, to the residential and commercial customers. These lossess can be reduced by: - 1. Replacing incorrectly sized transformers, 2. Improving the connection quality of conductors (power lines), and 3. Increasing the availability of reactive power by installing capacitor banks along transmission lines. read less
