A common batter is at a potential difference of 1.5 V from the earth. Current flows from higher potential to lower potential. This is just like water flowing from a higher level to a lower level. Watt, W is the measure of Power or the amount of work done in Joules per second by the current. It is the product of Voltage and Current, I. W = VI. It is the rate of consumption of electric energy by a circuit where the potential difference is 1 Volt and the current flowing is 1 Amp. read less
