The main principle is Bernoulli's theorem according to which pressure is inversely proportional to velocity. During storm the wind velocity is high outside the house than inside therefore the pressure is greater inside the house than outside. So the roof flies off as there is a force on the roof inside the house due to the difference in pressure.
