I’ve had the privilege of teaching music theory to a wide range of students, from complete beginners to more advanced musicians seeking a deeper understanding of musical structure. My teaching also includes application oriented aspects of theory, tailored to suit individual learning styles and goals. I have taught music theory in both one-on-one settings and group classes, working with children, teens, and adults. My curriculum spans fundamental topics such as notation, rhythm, intervals, scales, and chords, as well as more advanced concepts including harmonic analysis, counterpoint, form, and functional harmony. I place a strong emphasis on connecting theory to real-world musical application, helping students understand how theory informs their playing, composing, and listening. I also incorporate ear training, score reading, and improvisational tools into lessons to ensure a holistic understanding of music.
