Almost all the internet giants like Google, Facebook etc., Are using/running with Python. Python getting more and more visibility in programming world. You may place Python at par with C, C++, Java nowadays.

Start with "C" language. In fact one need to master the logic of a problem to solve than any programming (language) knowledge. Once you master that, language knowledge is just learning syntax & API's of a programming languge. I strongly recommed "C" to anyone who wish to start programming.
