I have been learning Carnatic flute for over seven years under the guidance of my guru, which has given me a strong foundation in both practical performance and theoretical understanding. Currently, I am pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Flute at a government music college in Chennai, where I continue to deepen my knowledge of raga structure, improvisation (manodharma), and classical repertoire. Alongside my studies, I have been teaching flute for the past two years. My teaching experience includes working with beginners as well as intermediate students. I focus on building a solid foundation by training students in basic fingering techniques, breath control, posture, and shruti alignment. For beginners, I follow a structured approach starting from sarali varisai, progressing gradually to alankaras, geethams, and simple varnams. With intermediate learners, I emphasize raga understanding, gamakas, and basic improvisation skills. I adapt my teaching style based on each student’s pace and learning ability, ensuring that lessons are both engaging and effective. I also encourage regular practice routines and provide simple exercises to improve tone clarity and finger coordination. My aim as a teacher is not only to help students play the flute but also to develop a deep appreciation for Carnatic music and its nuance
