TAXATION Four or five books are very famous when it comes to tax. 1)V.K.SINGHANIA : I referred this book for self study. It's a very big book but don't worry it covers all the concepts and it helps in understanding everything clearly. The drawback of this book is that it's not at all recommendable for Indirect taxes. You need to refer another book for that part. 2)T.N.MANOHARAN You can go for this book if you feel that singhania is very big. This book covers the concepts first and discusses about past years questions. If you attend coaching classes don't go for this book since you will already be familiarised with concepts as this book only contains problems relating to previous years. You can instead buy a scanner for previous year papers or just referring practice manual would be enough. But this book is simple and understandable when it comes to indirect taxes. 3)PADHUKAS In padhukas everything is covered in a Q&A format.Be it problems theory everything. And previous years questions, rtps are covered in this book. 4)GIRISH AHUJA 5)GUPTA I don't know about both Girish Ahuja and Gupta books so I can't comment on them.Just have a flick through all these books and buy the one you find interesting. Mohammad Rafi's book is really good for indirect taxes part. But the book is very big. Don't skip ICAI study materials and practice manuals. All the best. read less
