Why does an 8*8 LED matrix show both the old and new results of my C code on Raspberry Pi?

The display of the 8*8 matrix is governed by the setting of particular bits. In the case of old result being displayed, it might be the case of initialization and refresh not done properly. To comment in detail would require some understanding of the problematic code.
