Why do strings have to be so complicated in C?

There may be many reasons for the same. First of all, we need to understand that C was one of the initial languages so I think it would be better to say that it is simple, not complicated. Later on, with further developments like C++ or python, you will realize that more features were added which might be more useful in the present scenario. Like C++ follows OOP while C does not. So you may consider this as the biggest reason for your question. In OOP we treat everything as an object so it makes more sense with string as well. read less
