It depends on your requirement. If the function definition (code inside function) is too small say 1-2 lines, it is better to use macros otherwise use functions. Use of macros will speed up the execution process.

Macro is gud for short program but function is good for long program..because macro expand which increase the size of running program.but function use switching address mechanism..
