Main processes generally have a time allocation algorithm that allocates CPU time to each child process and similarly CPU uses time allocation techniques to allocate time to all the main processes. Hence, making a heavy calculation wait will delay it exponentially and other programs waiting for output from this process will also be inevitably delayed. read less
