How are portions of a program disabled in demo versions?

There are various ways. 1. By commenting 2. By putting the code withinn functions and not calling the functions 3. By putting the code within if (0) 4. Better would be by using preprocessor directives such as #if or #ifdef

Simple.. Just an additional validation check in the design and server code. If demo version then disable it; if full version enable it.

put the code which should not be part of demo in #if block example: #ifndef _DEMO ....Code to be disabled in demo version... #endif and while building enable _DEMO (In linux gcc world pass -D_DEMO, example gcc -D_DEMO t.c
