Best thing to learn and progress is to practice writing programs, initially small programs then gradually can write complex program. For academic exam you might need to remember lots of things to get good marks but in Industry if you want to be a C programmer or C developer then you need to be strong on concepts. Your focus of areas should be pointers handling, file handling, I/Os. You should practice short coding style means as minimum possible lines of code. and second thing you should start wring on notepad instead of any IDE/compiler so that you can track the number of syntax error you are committing.
