But all of this is waste if you do not have C compiler at home/office as you need to practice and practice a lot. «less

The best way to learn C, or for that matter, any programming language is to write code. All the reading and listening will only give you information. All of this becomes concrete and useful, only when you use that information to write code to solve problems.

Can you define which header file to include at compile time?

0 0

Anshul replied | 23/04/2016

No, we cannot do so since #include's are processed at preprocessor stage, not on compile time.

0 0

Vinod replied | 25/04/2016

Can you make the question more clear? #include will be processed during preprocessing. In other words, contents of header file will be copied into intermediate file during preprocessing.

How can type-insensitive macros be created?

0 0

Anshul replied | 23/04/2016

A type-insensitive macro is a macro that performs the same basic operation on different data types. This task can be accomplished by using the concatenation operator to create a call to a type-sensitive function based on the parameter passed to the macro.

How does void* differ in c and c++?

0 0
S

Shashiraja replied | 13/06/2016

Behaviour wise there is no difference however there is difference when we try using that in source code.
The basic difference is that typecasting TO and FROM void* is implicit in C. However in C++ typecast TO void* is implicit however typecast FROM void* needs to be done explicitly

T replied | 22/04/2016

nope,in c there is nothing like classes,so all your declarations are done in main function,how ever you can make a resource file in c that will contain user defined functions

0 0

Praveen replied | 22/04/2016

You can write a function which can be compiled but not the program. A function with a name main is called a program. Languages like php, HTML don't have a main. They are not called programs. They are just script. Interpreter has to execute them. So my conclusion is main function determines which is a program and which is just a peice of code

Difference between NULL and NUL in C. NULL is a macro defined in stddef.h for the null pointer.
NUL is the name of the first character in the ASCII character set. It corresponds to a zero value.

How can C programs run without header files?

0 0 3

Show previous answers

Vinod replied | 25/04/2016

The contents of them could be put directly in the source file (not recommended though). If is related to function prototype it will work with a warning, even if you do not put (but not always and not recommended).

0 0

Sg replied | 05/08/2016

Header files are used at compile time, the code gets inserted into the object/binary, you don't need them for running. But we do need all dynamic libraries used during linking for running the executable.

Majority of the people now a days take things for granted. And they assume that they know things, which will not be true in reality. With respect to that, let me ask a question related to C language. This question is for students and not for trainers. If you as a student can answer to such questions, then fine. Otherwise, you need to look back. Below is the question:

#include "stdio.h"
unsigned int myprint;
int main ( )
{
myprint = printf;
myprint ("code is working \n");

return 0;
}
What is output of the above code snippet?
If it works, how? You need to justify.
If it does not work, why? You need to justify. You can also propose solutions.
Note 1: Do not use #define
Note 2: Do not directly put code on to computer. First analyze by putting it on paper. Use computer, only to validate / verify your analysis
Note 3: I can put more of such questions related to C, Linux and Scripting (Python, Perl and Tcl), if students are interested. «less

IN Linux try to recompile open source, then try to bring in your own components’ make it a small OS out of it

Start looking Face book Think what could have gone into it to create one such product
ie., You can dive deep into graph data structures to design a tree on FB. Think about how they have developed lib for the external applications. How your app can post a message on Time line, etc. Once you are ready with the elements of modules port that on to c++, Being in c++ Think how you can Architect and bring all modules cohesively.
