String is a primitive data type. Eg: String name = ' praveenn'; now praveenn is a data whose type is string.

Hi Ashish, String is a class in JAVA. Objects of which are immutable. Like X in algebra u can create any variable of type String which will hold the value in the form of "character" or "sequence of characters". Eg. String x= "Ashish"; x will have value "Ashish". Regards.
