You should be having atleast 4+years of experience in java programming, to be proficient and hadoop course and practice. Time it takes to attain job is solely relies on you, how you frame your resume, how you practice, and how you answer the questions. As hadoop has lot of stacks you need to work on gaining knowledge on atleast one or two. Also if you can keep practising on your computer or get access to cloud labs, and keep in touch with the technologies you work what is happening, as the change and updates in technology is very rapid.
