Pranav Pandit

I come from a classical music household. My mother is a PhD scholar in Indian Classical Music and my earliest memories are of riyaz, ragas, and rhythm. I was not taught music as a hobby, I was raised inside it.

I am formally trained in the Kirana Gharana tradition, one of Hindustani classical music's most celebrated and emotionally expressive lineages, the same gharana as Pandit Bhimsen Joshi.

My credentials are examined and government-recognised:

1. Visharad Poorna, Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Maha Vidyalaya Mandal, one of India's most prestigious classical music examination bodies

2. Vidwath Poorna, Karnataka State Government (KSEEB), state-level advanced certification in Hindustani Classical Music

Alongside music, I am a final-year BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) intern which has deepened my understanding of breath, body, and the science behind vocal production.

Teaching Experience & Approach:

I began teaching as a natural extension of my upbringing stepping in for my mother's students when she was occupied, learning early that teaching music is fundamentally different from performing it. It requires patience, observation, and the ability to meet each student exactly where they are.

I teach Hindustani Classical Vocal and Harmonium to students from complete beginners through examination-level candidates, including those preparing for Gandharva Mahavidyalaya graded examinations.

My approach is rooted in three things:

Sruti first — before scales, before songs, before anything — a student must develop their ear. I build this foundation before anything else because everything in classical music depends on it.

Slow before fast — most students want to sing bandishes before their swara is clean. I resist that pressure. The students who learn correctly at the start progress three times faster within six months than those who rush.

Consistency over intensity — twenty minutes of daily riyaz produces better results than two hours on weekends. I design practice routines that fit a student's actual life, not an ideal schedule.

I am available for online sessions and teach in Hindi, Kannada, and English.
