Hello! My name is Akhila Karani, and I am an MSc Biotechnology graduate with a strong academic and research background in the life sciences. I am passionate about helping students understand biology beyond memorization by building a clear understanding of concepts and their real-world applications. My areas of expertise include Biology, Biotechnology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Microbiology, and related life science subjects. I teach students at the school, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels, and I can also support learners preparing for competitive examinations in the life sciences. What sets me apart is my hands-on research experience at premier research institutions. During my MSc dissertation, I worked at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, where I studied the role of exocyst complex proteins in intracellular vesicle trafficking using mammalian cell culture and molecular biology techniques. I have also completed a Summer Research Fellowship at the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), where I worked on autophagy-related cellular mechanisms in yeast models. These experiences allow me to connect textbook concepts with real laboratory research and current developments in biology. As a tutor, I focus on making complex topics simple, engaging, and easy to understand. My teaching approach emphasizes: building strong conceptual foundations; explaining difficult topics through diagrams, examples, and visual learning; encouraging analytical thinking rather than rote memorization; adapting lessons to each student's learning pace and goals; and providing guidance for assignments, examinations, presentations, and academic projects.
