You might be aware of tier II pattern of SSC CHSL too. It includes two sections: 1. Letter/Application 2. Essay Writing. Never wait to start preparation of Tier II after the result of TIER I. If you think so, you are not confident of yourself and far from Toppers. Tips for cracking TIER II 1. Start studying "The Editorial's column", The Hindu newspaper. 2. Write at least 3 letters/ application and essays a week. 3. Try to learn vocabulary and avoid grammatical errors. 4. This section not only checks your grammatical errors but it asks a better perception and vocabulary. You may purchase Arihant's English Grammar and start studying now.

Reading newspaper will be helpful but the you will not be able to remember words you read so it is important to practice those words by speaking among friends or to develop a writing habit making either short sentences or small paragraphs or stories. For Grammar you can use books like S. P. Bakshi and R.S. Aggarwal or Arihant publication books. For maths get basic concepts from books like R.S. Aggarwal and then enroll for time based mocks which would help you increase your speed. Reasoning is all about practice enroll for a mock and start practising.
