I have studied Sitar with Ustad Shujaat Khan the world-renowned Grammy nominee, in Delhi. Have been teaching sitar to people from different walks of life and different age groups from all over the world for over two decades.
Ustad Shujaat Khan's family tree can be traced back to the 17 century. He is the son of the illustrious Ustad Vilayat Khan.
I was born into a family of music and since childhood have been learning Hindustani music.
My style is known as Gayaki Ang means vocal style. It combines traditional and modern poetry with ragas/music of Sitar with various rhythmic alterations.
I have given solo performances to a variety of Indian and International audiences in India and London and Portland (USA).
As Director of International Education at Hyderabad University, I got an opportunity to institutionalize the teaching of musical instruments including the Sitar.
I have composed music and played for Door Darshan TV.
I also got a chance to practice my sitar with great Tabla players like Ustad Chamma Khan (father of the renowned late Ustad Shefat Khan).
My CD on Indian Vedic Music has been very popular with audiences and has been used for meditation sessions.
