IdentityI am a PhD. I earned my M.S. and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado, Boulder (USA) in 2003.
Among my early inventions is a digital stethoscope that detects heart problems in children from heart sounds, described in my paper published in *Circulation*, the Journal of the American Heart Association
Since then, I have had the opportunity to apply neural networks to solve practical problems, including:
* Artificial neural network–based classification of tissue micro-array images for malignant tumour detection at GE Medical Systems
* Convolutional neural networks for detecting transformable embryos in plant tissue culture at Monsanto Company
* OCR of used rail tickets to analyse seasonal travel preferences of passengers in Japan Railways
More recently, I co-founded a company focused on analysing unstructured data to generate trading signals in the financial domain.
**Why I teach:**
I believe that teaching is one of the best ways to give back the knowledge I have gained through research, industry, and entrepreneurship. I enjoy breaking down complex concepts into simple, practical insights that empower learners to apply them in real-world scenarios. My goal is to not only share technical knowledge but also to inspire curiosity, creativity, and confidence in applying these skills to solve meaningful problems.
