Radhakrishna is a worthy successor to his Guru Bharat Ratna late Pandit Ravishankar ji and one of the senior most Sitar players in the city of Bangalore. He started playing the Sitar from a tender age of 14 .His formative years were under Late Pt N.R.Ramarao and later under late Pt Uma Shankar Mishra, both early and senior most disciples of Pt Ravishankar ji from whom he finally learnt during later years. Radhakrishna is not only an extraordinary, dedicated musician but also veteran and well known in the travel and tourism trade .He climbed the ladder in this field to becoming a managing director of P&O travel and Princess Cruises in India. As a gifted musician he has given several concerts across the world from USA to Europe and UK and of course, in India at key festivals viz Music academy , Chennai , Sankat mochan Varanasi , Bangalore Kidney foundation yearly festival and many more. Radhakrishna has not rested on his laurels - long hours of riyaz continues to occupy him taking his craft to even higher standards. As a guru to a select bunch of dedicated students, at his ‘SITAR CENTRE’ where he continues to propagate the Sania Maihar Gharana instrumental music tradition in Bangalore and other parts of South India. He is probably one among few torch bearers of this tradition in these parts of India. To speak of the quality of his sitar playing, he has a mind of his own, however is greatly inspired but naturally by his revered Gurus , in addition brings in unique touches of late Pt. Nikhil Banerjee’s flawless plucking of the strings, the melody evoked from the flowery bursts of high tones to the gravitas of the lower notes. From a young and aspiring prize winning radio and TV artist to a seasoned professional, Radhakrishna has come a long way. No compromise in his practice sessions, or his teaching his students the craft, he continues to uphold the magnificent banner of his Guru Bharat Ratna late Pt. Ravishankar and the Maihar Tradition.
