Maya or 3D studio max. Which is better for a beginner?

Well , the question is like is apple or banana good for health? Both have different applications. Usually 3ds max is used for architecture viz,mechanical viz or related to technical 3d graphics creation,where Maya is more of charecter creation for Movies, vfx, cartoon characters. But the same can be done in 3ds max too :) I have also seen people combining Maya and Max for their projects. So its upto you, if you are looking for architecture design career, then I would say u can start with 3ds max ,as major companys are using 3ds max for their projects,and if you are looking to work for a animation studio,working on animated movies, then Maya is a better choice.Hope this works.
