Mayur Hanagandi

I am a FIDE-rated national-level chess player with more than 10 years of competitive chess experience across district, state, national, open, rapid, and classical tournaments. I represented Karnataka at the 64th National School Games (SGFI) in 2018–19, competing against strong school-level players from across India. I have also participated in multiple AICF-recognized open and rated tournaments and have gained extensive experience in competitive preparation, tactical calculation, strategic decision-making, position evaluation, and game analysis.

My tournament achievements include 3rd Prize in the Karnataka State Under-19 Chess Championship, 4th Place in the Karnataka State Open Rapid Chess Tournament, 9th Place in the Karnataka State School Chess U-14, and multiple 1st-place finishes at district and taluka-level tournaments. I have competed extensively in both rapid and classical formats and have experience playing in high-pressure tournament environments.

My current FIDE profile has a Standard Rating of 1525 and a Rapid Rating of 1645. I am also an active Chess.com player under the username “on27”, with a Rapid rating of 1460, Blitz rating of 1433, 778 games, and a puzzle rating of 2164. I have trained under experienced chess coaches, including IM B. S. Shivanand at the Karnataka Chess Academy, Bengaluru.

I am passionate about helping students improve their chess through clear explanations, tactical puzzles, guided practice, game analysis, and tournament-oriented preparation. I am comfortable using online chess and teaching technologies including Lichess, Chess.com, ChessBase, Zoom, and Google Sheets. I communicate in English, Kannada, and Hindi and am interested in continuously improving as a chess coach while helping young players develop logical thinking, concentration, discipline, and problem-solving skills.
