"I joined this collage in January of last year and I loved it. It had it's minor dramas, but if you can ignore that crap (which you'll get at any institutes) and focus on your program you'll be fine. And it'll be over before you know it! I loved that they used a different instructor for each course, which I've heard isn't the case for most of these schools. I took the Interior designing course and loved it. They're very understanding if you're going through anything major like I unfortunately did, and they will work with you as long as you communicate with them. I just wish I hadn't let my unfortunate event take over my life completely as I'm positive I could have easily been hired somewhere after completing my hours required for extern. There are still days that I wonder if I could walk back in, explain myself, and start over...ANYWAYS, that's a totally different story. Made some awesome friends throughout my time there too, I looked forward to going every day :) "

"I have completed fashion designing diploma course .I want to start institute or a unit of kurthis .how to start and from where.for that what should I first do?" in   Training for professionals/Fashion Designing

Opening a boutique can be a great investment, as the general public is always on the lookout for new fashions and great deals on existing designer clothes. But there's more to running a successful boutique than having a sharp sense of style and a passion for fashion. You need to maintain your supply lines, reach your customers and price your wares just right to make a profit, as well as manage every other aspect of your business efficiently to maximize your profits. Keep reading for instructions on opening a boutique. Decide what type of boutique you want to open. There are high-end fashion boutiques that sell clothes from top designers, modern fashion boutiques that sell popular brands, and boutiques that sell children's clothes. You can even open a boutique to sell your own designs. Evaluate the competition in your area. Find out how many boutiques sell items similar to those you want to sell, what their price ranges are, and how they market themselves. Find out if there's a market for a new boutique in your area. This will mainly be determined by the demographics and shopping habits of people who live in the region. Draw up a business plan. Make sure you include the costs of your venue, utilities, taxes and business licenses, as well as inventory, business supplies, staff and marketing. Visit an accountant to determine the viability of your business plan. Make any necessary adjustments to make it as sound as can be. Acquire the investment capital you need to open a boutique. You can either speak to your bank about a small business loan, or speak to private investors about putting up the capital for your start up. Find the venue for your boutique. Make sure it's in an area that provides enough traffic to bring sufficient customers to your store. Design your boutique and furnish it. Make sure you pay attention to both the exterior and interior of the store to create a comprehensive look. Determine which suppliers you want and order your inventory. Even if you're selling your own designs, it's worth extending your selection to include 1 or 2 brand names. Interview and hire employees. Make sure they are representative of your boutique's style, as well as friendly and efficient. Advertise your fashion boutique online, in print magazines and papers, and on flyers.

"My sister completed fashion designing in PSG arts and now doing post graduate diploma in management. How to start career in self employment?" in   Training for professionals/Fashion Designing

Ready to live the dream and work for yourself? Worried about startup expenses? Starting your own business is the dream for many. The ability to set your own hours, to determine the type of work you do and earn your income as you wish is a freedom many consider worth pursuing. And, if this sounds like something that interests you, now may be the perfect time to do so. Becoming self-employed is goal for many want-to-be entrepreneurs, but knowing exactly what business to start and being able to afford the startup costs can be a barrier. Luckily, there are plenty of opportunities for those willing to learn and put a little elbow grease into their career path. If you’re looking for a little motivation or inspiration to get you started. Affiliate marketing may be one of the easiest businesses to start. All you need is a website and some partnerships with vendors in a niche you are passionate about and knowledgeable in. While easy to start, you will need to put some real effort and time into driving targeted traffic to your website to generate sales.

"I wanted to develop some skills in Textiles. What all will be essential?" in   Training for professionals/Fashion Designing

Dear Nirmal,I have mention below the essential Skills of Textiles. Develop your visual language through expressive use of media, drawing and digital design. Gain an understanding of a wide range of techniques, technologies and media, and how they relate to textiles and products. Develop understanding of consumer and art trends that will impact on your chosen practice. Explore, experiment and innovate. Choose to specialise, or to apply broad multimedia approaches. Benefit from our great links to business and enterprise. What will I achieve? You’ll learn a lot about the use of textiles, especially in the context of fashion and interiors, and have the opportunity to exhibit and sell at events such as TENT, London, and Premier Vision, Paris. You’ll also gain an international perspective, through study trips abroad – we’ll encourage you to visit fashion fabric shows in Paris and New York, and interiors shows in Germany. You’ll be introduced to the great potential of contemporary textiles, their applications, and places to sell your ideas and develop a career. You’ll be encouraged to take up work experience opportunities and internships suited to your area of interest, and to build networks of suppliers, agents, and practitioner events.
