Phonics is not just letter sounds. Once your child has mastered the basic sounds and reading 3-4 letter words, it is time to introduce spelling rules, digraphs, vowel teams, transitioning from short vowel sounds to long vowel and complex methods of syllabification in words, adding prefixes and suffixes. I believe in teaching 1-2 concepts a day followed by dictation. Good readers can be good spellers! I am more focused on teaching intermediate and advanced phonics. Let's start helping kids in their first foundational steps for a lifelong learning!
