GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is a national-level entrance examination in India conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB)-GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India. GATE is a competitive exam that tests a candidate's knowledge, skills, and aptitude in various undergraduate subjects in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, and Science. The exam is held annually, typically in February, and is a gateway for admission to: 1. Master's programs (M.Tech, M.E., M.Arch, etc.) in premier institutions like IITs, NITs, and IIITs. 2. Doctoral programs (Ph.D.) in various universities and institutions. 3. Recruitment in public sector undertakings (PSUs), research organizations, and private companies. GATE scores are also used for admission to various programs in countries like Singapore, Germany, and the United States. The exam consists of a single paper with 65 questions, divided into three sections: 1. General Aptitude (GA) - 10 questions 2. Core Subject (CS) - 45 questions 3. Engineering Mathematics (EM) - 10 questions The exam is computer-based, and candidates have three hours to complete it.
