Internet Hosted, does not need local infrastructure, however Data network cost and inflow outflow cost has to be calculated.

Answer depends on whether you are evaluating AWS as a customer / user to move your infra to cloud or AWS as a career path... Will provide more inputs based on that.. In generic terms, AWS has more pros than cons..

Pros: 1. Its easy, Its fast, You can deploy a web server (or any server for that matter) in matter of minutes. Same thing if you decide to do with datacenter colocation time and efforts are significantly huge 2. Is it economical or not is a topic of debate for a full scale website like flipkart, but all I can say is, In financial terms it allows you to reduce your huge fixed costsof setting up datacenter and pay as you scale up 3. This means if you are a small entrepreneur building a portal like urbanpro(btw urbanpro is hosted on amazon), your best bet is to go with Amazon AWS as you do not have many visitors and manpower to maintain datacenter space. But when you scale to tens of thousands of consistent visitors per day and you have enough manpower to maintain and support your own servers 24x7 then probably maintaining your own datacenter would be more economical. read less

Pros : Tons of services to address all sort of requirements, Very easy to setup your infrastructure, Elasticity, in the matter of few clicks you can setup DR site and High availability, rapid pace of innovation etc. Cons : Few customers says it's bit costly, not all of their services are still in evolving state and No datacenter in India yet, security and privacy could be a concern for say some Govt Organization who can't keep their citizens data outside country where they have absolutely no access. etc. read less

Having used Amazon Webservices and taught AWS topics, I can say that AWS has mostly pros, can't think of cons right away. The AWS services covers the whole gamut of SaaS, PaaS and IaaS and there are so many services and very cost effective. No wonder, it has the largest market share in cloud computing...

The AWS services covers the whole gamut of SaaS, PaaS and IaaS and there are so many services and very cost effective.
