Here is an excerpt of our interview with Aniruddha SG, Ruby on Rails Trainer from Bangalore:
Q1. When and how you started as a Ruby on Rails Trainer?
Ans. I come from Development background, when working on projects for clients as a Consultant. Few MNCs and startups in Bangalore asked me to train their employees on Ruby on Rails & JavaScript. When the opportunity came my way I took it up. I started conducting training both in companies as well as classroom. I found real satisfaction in seeing my students understand and implement things taught to them, that was when I found my life’s purpose. Since past 6 years, I’ve been training people on being full stack developers using modern technologies and also mentored 5 successful startups, couple of which have been founded by IITians. From past 3 years, I’ve moved into a full time trainer role.
Q2. What skills are required to become a Ruby on Rails Trainer?
Ans. For being a good trainer especially in programming, one must have complete hands on experience; he/she should have worked on projects. Another important skill is communication. It’s not how much the trainer knows is important, it’s how much he can make his students understand is important. It’s also important to understand each students learning ability, background and their objective of getting trained.
Q3. What do you think makes you stand out from other Ruby on Rails Trainers on UrbanPro.com?
Ans. Each trainer has his/her own style of delivering the training. What I believe and follow is complete hands on training, I do it project based, i.e. while building full-fledged applications like eCommerce and blogs etc. Students get to learn all the technologies, they understand and implement how all these work together. This has benefitted hundreds of students, as they have gained a complete exposure towards building software. Apart from the curriculum, I have limited intake for each batch, so that I can provide individual attention to students. I’ve also gone ahead and created a good learning atmosphere and engaging environment for students by involving them in a lot of group activities for assignments & project work. Apart from the course, I organise special events called as “Professional Connect”, where Sr Developers or Managers from the industry come down to meet and interact with the students. And those students who have done well during the training, I assist them in placements.

Q5. What was the turning point in your career?
Ans. A quote I read, “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, It is time for you to stop and reflect. ” ~ Mark Twain
This made me leave my job and take up teaching as a full time profession.
