5 Interview Tips for Freshers

You might have faced many interviews by now, in school, college and so many more places. But when it comes to placement based interview for your first job the concern and nervousness has to come in. Teachers, parents, relatives will provide you with so many tips and suggestions and at the same time look up to you for some amazing performance, followed by good news. Amidst all, what happens is - a too much fuss and worry makes the interview candidate forget the to-do’s. a) Documents and interview letter No interviewer mentions but there are some documents that you have to carry all life for all interviews. To begin with is your resume and may be some four to five copies of the same. Carry two set of photocopies of your marksheets and certificates along with the original ones. Also, carrying original and photocopy of one of your identity card like pan card or voter card is highly recommended. Put all of these in a file with two pens and one pencil. Also, carry a notepad in case you would have to write anything during the interview. b) Advance research Before the interview day, in fact once the final date is confirmed start researching on the following - i. Location of the interview ii. History of the company iii. Details about the recruiter iv. Job description and job role, you are being hired for v. Get in touch with present employees of the company for feedback vi. Plan your expected package, before you convey to them vii. Revise interview questions related to your profession viii. Go through the company website c) Last minute check points These are to be cross checked right before the exam day. Start with the dress you are planning to wear. Its recommended that you wear formals for the interview. Make sure your dress is clean, washed, ironed and color coordinated. Do not put loud accessories that will make you stand out. You should carry a calm and sober look. Also, check in online maps or discuss with seniors how far is the interview venue from your place. You should leave having ample time in hand, as you have no scope to be late for an interview. d) Three C’s of an interview He three C’s of an interview that you cannot miss is - concise, calm and confident. Your answers should be concise and limited to what you are asked. Do not over talk or talk less during the interview. Coming to calm. You might be cross questioned by interviewer, but you have maintain your calm, stick to your point and explain your views. Do not change opinions based on the interviewers attempt. Lastly, confidence is the key to crack an interview. If you talk right and meaningful with confidence, your luck is sure to favor on the interview result day. e) Questions from your end There is one beat in any interview, where the hiring officer asks if you have any question for them. You can use this opportunity to ask questions but make sure your questions sound sensible. This is not the moment to ask, whether you will get the job or what is the salary and so on. Here, you can ask about the company or work-plan strategy that will reflect your interest in the job.
