In coordinate geometry reflection is given as below 1. Reflection about X-axis: In this all the points (x,y) go to the points (x,-y). i.e. the plane above X-axis gets mapped below X-axis & vice versa. Example: If P(1,3) is a point in 1st quadrant then under reflection about X-axis it goes to... read more

Reflection about X-axis: In this all the points (x,y) go to the points (x,-y). i.e. the plane above X-axis gets mapped below X-axis & vice versa. Example: If P(1,3) is a point in 1st quadrant then under reflection about X-axis it goes to P*(1,-3) in 4th quadrant. 2. Reflection about Y-axis: In this all the points (x,y) go to the points (-x,y). i.e. the plane on the right of Y-axis gets mapped to left of Y-axis. Example: If P(1,3) is a point in 1st quadrant then under reflection about Y-axis it goes to P*(-1,3) in 2nd quadrant. Similarly, we can define reflection about the lines y=x, y=-x. In General, we can define reflection about any line in plane. read less
