What is different between malloc and calloc?

calloc(m, n) is essentially equivalent to: p = malloc(m * n); memset(p, 0, m * n); There is no important difference between the two other than the number of arguments and the zero fill. malloc() allocates memory block of given size (in bytes) and returns a pointer to the beginning of the block. malloc()... ...more
calloc(m, n) is essentially equivalent to: p = malloc(m * n); memset(p, 0, m * n); There is no important difference between the two other than the number of arguments and the zero fill. malloc() allocates memory block of given size (in bytes) and returns a pointer to the beginning of the block. malloc() doesn’t initialize the allocated memory. calloc() allocates the memory and also initializes the allocates memory to zero. Unlike malloc(), calloc() takes two arguments: 1) number of blocks to be allocated 2) size of each block. See the syntax those functions as below: void * malloc( size_t size ); void * calloc( size_t num, size_t size ); Use whichever function is convenient. Don't rely on calloc's zero fill too much (see below); usually, it's best to initialize data structures yourself, on a field-by-field basis, especially if there are pointer fields.

(-3.5) ^ 2 + (4.5) ^ 2 = 12.25 + 20.25 = 32.5. Since 32.5 < 49, the point lies inside the circle. The circle equation also can be written as x^2+y^2 - 49 = 0.
